Mistakes to avoid when planning a wedding

By Alexia Azzopardi on 9th April 2021in Blog
Getting married in Malta

When planning a wedding there are a lot of things which are beyond the your control. The weather for instance, mother nature could play tricks even in the middle of the summer season, when Malta’s afternoons could be unbearably hot..yes we do get the odd “refreshing” showers every once in a while…The photographer coming down with the flu right on your wedding day or any other vendor for that matter. But there are other things which could be avoided, and this is where professional help will be worth every cent. We have seen even the most organised of bride’s making mistakes because there is an element of experience which new brides don’t have and rightly so it is our job to make sure no one does these mistakes.

Blowing off your weddings budget

Whilst money may not be the most exiting topic to discuss in light of your engagement, it is possibly the most important. Many couples come into the planning without even considering a budget and then are shocked to discover they’ve already spent most of their money and don’t have all of the things they need.

Messing Up the Marriage paperwork

Many couples are not familiar with what is required for them to get married in Malta. Organising a destination wedding is one thing, getting all the document sorted is another task altogether and again we are there to help in this process as well. Each country has it’s own requirements, but what is the same for all is that documents carry an expiry date, and having documents sent out before the paperwork time window will result in these documents to expire and hence having to re do the process once again.

Letting other people take decisions for you

Whilst it is ok for people to give their own opinion (up to a certain point), it is not ok for one to impose on you and make your decisions for you. This is your one time take, your wedding for you. It needs to scream you and you need to be comfortable with each and every aspect of your wedding day. We have seen this happen many times and it is sad to say the least to see brides succumb to someone else’s decision.

Overspending on the dress

This is probably one mistake every bride does…here we are pointing it out again. There are so many beautiful dresses out there, many stores to choose from, designer brands and so forth. Remember you are going to use this dress just this once! there again this is your choice to make…

Skipping the videographer

Many tend to leave this item for last or just skip it altogether. Who needs to watch the wedding video over and over anyway…Well trust us on this one. You will regret it. By hiring a professional videographer to document your wedding, you’ll relive those special moments you may have missed on the day, such as interactions with grandparents, friends, family, watching you dance the night away in your overpriced wedding dress and so forth….you might want to re think this one.
