Lingerie, or rather, shall we call it what it is? Especially for those of us with curves, lumps, bumps and few jiggly bits, shape-wear! I can hear the collective sighs and groans, but fear not, here are a few tricks which can help.
The underwear depends entirely on the kind of gown you will be wearing. So I suggest wearing comfortable, previously worn undergarments, especially when trying on the gown for final fittings. You need to know that the undergarments will stay in place, that you will be able to move elegantly and gracefully as well as jump around and dance. The last thing you want to feel is your waist cinching underwear roll downward as soon as you bend or sit. Most important of all you need to be able to breathe.
Bridal undergarments/shape-wear tend to be quite unflattering to look at, but remember, their sole purpose is to flatter you in your dream dress. You can always sneak into the changing room with your bridesmaids, whip off the ‘corsetry’ and slip into your sexy undies just before leaving your guests.
This brings me to the wretched pantyhose saga, my strong advice is to use stay up stockings one size larger than your regular pantyhose size. Roll them all the way up to the tops of your thighs and groin and they will not move from there, I can promise you that, you will also avoid the mid-thigh bulge consistent with thigh highs. Not to mention that it makes toilet visits much, much easier.
