As the weather gets warmer, days grow longer and nights get balmy, making it perfect for outdoor weddings. Malta has many venues that offer great outdoor spaces for entertaining. Today I want to focus on a romantic, floaty draped décor. I have always had a love for tents, draped materials over frames to give an open tented canopy feel. I personally tend to lean towards a white theme, as I find it refreshing and light offering a monochromatic backdrop.
Draped open sided structures, can provide for the setting up of different areas as well as gathering spots. Lighting can be rigged up to ensure that all the areas are well lit, different lighting options are available and engaging an experienced wedding planner will ensure that you get to explore all the possibilities. Fairy lights can be used for an additional romantic touch, draped around trees or hung like curtains. Extra-large hurricane lamps with candles can be placed to create pools of soft light.
Seating areas are best kept comfortable with outdoor furniture and cushions, more like a chill out zone rather than a formal seating area. Poufs and bean bags can also be used. Want a splash of colour? Use the soft furnishings for colour accents, as well as the lights, flowers and blooms. Would you like fireworks? Yes it can be organised.
Start a notebook with ideas and items you would like for your wedding, write everything down regardless of how outlandish it may seem. And then start paring it down, you will find the common themes and traits that you love popping up on a regular basis.
Designing and organising your venue is very exciting but it can be daunting at times. Speak with your wedding planner, they will be able to guide you towards which options are available, the ones that best suit your budget and your style.
