December wedding ideas

December wedding in Malta

It is a known fact that weddings around winter are not as popular as those in spring and summer, however there is an evident pick in weddings happening in the month of December, and this is manly because there are many Christmas fans out there. There is nothing quite as magical as Christmas, from holiday music to darker florals, these seasonal details do add that charm and warmth to even the crispiest of days (only a handful of those in Malta)

If you’re a bride who’s into make up and is not keen on humidity and melting foundation base a winter wonderland wedding will be your perfect pick. Not to mention that bold lip…While natural blush pinks and nude shades are often in heavy rotation during the summer, a vampy red or burgundy lipstick will lend that perfect pop to your bridal look. Embrace the weather and shine through girl!

Wedding gowns featuring long sleeves are a hit nowadays. Many wedding fashion designers are having a great time coming up with a variety of illusion sleeves and high-collared lace necklines, there’s a dress silhouette for every bridal style. Gents, you too can embrace the full 3 piece without having to endure the inner sauna, looking sharp at all times.

One good thing about an all white bridal bouquet is that it’ll never go out of style. Consider using white blooms, in a variety of textures for your winter nuptials. Queen Anne’s lace is a good place to start, this seasonal flower known for its delicate lace-like texture will round out any bridal floral bouquet. If you’re going for a tone-on-tone look, we recommend gardenia, ranunculi, or the ever so beautiful, white garden roses.

Fairly lights have been around for a number of years, these super magical twinkly warm white lights are being used in so many different ways that it will be difficult having them go out of style. They can be used both indoor and outdoor and just a few strings of twinkle lights can set the perfect wintery tone to your nuptials.

Thinks of wintery comfort food when you’re planning your winter wedding around the hottest days of the year. It’s easy to skim through it simply because it doesn’t feel right then. It will make it all come together and it is a very important factor to make it a full winter magical wedding. Be creative, speak with your caterer and think outside the box with a hot chocolate station bar stocked with heart-warming homemade marshmallows, clotted cream and bourbon cocktails.

Whilst winter weddings are set predominantly indoors, Malta is blessed with very mild winters and great sunny days even in the month of December. If the venue of choice has an outdoor space, make use of it. Have an afternoon ceremony set outside before moving indoors for the rest of the celebrations,  serve your welcome drink outside, choose to cut the cake outside and surprise your guests with a 3 minute fireworks display adding that extra festive vibe to your magical day!
