Built in 1554, The Sheer Bastion, during the reign of Grand Master Claude de la Sengle, has been one of the Grand Harbour’s iconic landmarks, originating its name ‘Macina’ from the large sheer crane structure (‘macchina’), used to winch heavy masts and other cargo, which was eventually taken away in 1864.
This beauty has been recently restored and turned into a luxury boutique Hotel offering nothing but picturesque views from within.
It’s roof top has been converted into a gorgeous venue offering not only the openness of such place but also another angle for admiring views of Vittoriosa and Cospicua. Getting weddings to this venue would be putting another gem to the list of gorgeous wedding venues in Malta. With a history and a modern twist to the décor, The Sheer Bastion will be enjoyed by many couples, as it is truly a one of a kind wedding venue especially in the south of Malta.
