Congratulations! You’re all set to become a the man giving the speech at your friends wedding. Now what do you say? Here are six tips for making your speech memorable:
Keep it short – no one really wants to watch someone drag on forever; this isn’t an Oscars acceptance speech after all. Give them the cliff notes version of who you are and how much they mean to you. Show them that their support means everything, and then get out before things start getting too emotional (which is not what we want!).
Avoid clichés like “we’re here because two people fell in love” or anything else generic like that; everyone already knows plenty about love and if they are present at this weddings it’s because they have that information already.
Take a deep breaths and remember to pause after each sentence, especially if there is for a laugh when engaging in some funny story.
Don’t call anyone by their last name. Just use their first name or nickname if you have one for them.
Be creative with words like poetry or video editing so when it comes to your conclusion you’d be sure to wow the happy couple
Make sure everyone knows why it is important to dance at weddings without being too preachy about it – even though some people are still reluctant to get out there on the floor. Get them to dance..
